This is our regular monthly platforms for believers in the marketplace, and in particular, Christian Business Owners, to meet for the specific purposes of:
1. Worship;
2. Receiving a teaching to empower our lives and our business;
3. Sharing and praying with like-minded believers in business, especially those who have similar experiences in your industry; and

The bible says in Deuteronomy 30:2-3: “and when you and your children return to the LORD your God and obey him with all your heart and with all your soul according to everything I command you today, then the LORD your God will restore your fortunes and have compassion on you and gather you again from all the nations where he scattered you.”
If you seek God with all your mind, your soul, your strength, and your heart, God will open the door for you. In Revelations 3:7-8: “To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: these are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What He opens no one can shut, and what He shuts no one can open. I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.“
GBNV is delighted to invite our guest speaker, Mr Michael Song, Executive Director, V.Hive furniture, to share his personal journey and God’s amazing grace in his life at our next Business Empowerment Evening on 18 April 2013.
Michael is a man who comes from a humble beginning. He worked as a salesman selling luggage at High Street Capitol Cinema after his O levels. After his army days, he joined Electrolux as a door-to-door vacuum cleaner salesman. It was a very humbling experience being constantly rejected and abused by customers, but he never gave up and learned to persevere and work hard to make a living. He did very well after joining GCE as a printing materials salesman. With his successes, Michael set up several businesses in the fashion boutique and lighting industry with some seed capital from his father, but only to fail and lose everything due to the 1987 financial crisis.
With an unwavering and conquering spirit, Michael set up V.Hive with his brother Felix in 1989. V.Hive was blessed and doing well until a fire broke out in his Aljunied warehouse in Aug 1999. This fired destroyed everything that he has built up over the last 10 years. Michael thought he would have to take up taxi driving from then. This fire that consumed everything was the second biggest fire in Singapore in 1999. Everything was burnt down, including the fire proof safe!
God is always faithful! Are you curious to witness for yourself how God powerfully and miraculously restored V.Hive fully to what you see today? Come and hear from Michael personally, how God created the miracles for his restoration and Michael’s patient response to God’s calling, and how he fulfilled the purposes of God for him. When we move in our destined calling and purpose, we move in His power and we will see the power of God revealed in and through our lives!

with Dr Naomi Dowdy – “ARE YOU READY FOR 2013?”
About the Speaker
Dr Naomi Dowdy is a pioneer. More than forty years ago, she made the shift from being a business woman in California to become a young missionary to the Marshall Islands. Moving from island to island to preach the gospel, she battled loneliness and culture shock, while breaking open coconuts for food and drink. During that time, she built churches, a Bible School and dormitories. Her responsibilities were as wide and varied as the islands of Micronesia across which she traveled to nurture church plants.
En route to her next assignment, she stopped over in Singapore, where she was approached to pastor a church with, as she puts it, 42 members and 75 problems. She heard the audible voice of God to take on the assignment, to move from the role of an evangelist to that of a pastor. After arguing with God (and losing that argument), she became the interim pastor.
The ‘interim’ period turned out to be almost 30 years. By the time she turned the church over to her spiritual sons and daughters, Trinity Christian Centre in Singapore had grown into a church of global impact, with more than 4000 in attendance, a global missions program and three freehold properties in the land-scarce city state. The church continues to thrive under her successor Rev Dominic Yeo, and has since grown to more than 5,500 in attendance.
Today, Dr Dowdy is helping a new generation of leaders fulfill God’s calling upon their lives. She mentors church leaders, business leaders, and men and women in strategic leadership positions. Her apostolic vision has an immense impact on all who hear her speak or read her books. She is inspiring and raising a new generation of world-changers.

Mr Jason Wong is currently a Senior Director of MCYS, working with abused children and youths at risk. His previous appointments include Dy Director cum Chief of Staff of the Singapore Prisons Service and CEO of SCORE (Singapore Corporation of Rehabilitative Enterprises). He chaired the Yellow Ribbon Project Organising Committee when it was launched in 2004, and is now involved in the national Dads for Life movement. He is married with 2 children.

The Bible says that the rich man’s wealth is his strong city; the destruction of the poor is their poverty (Proverbs 10:15). It therefore lies in the choice of every man to pick where he wants to belong. Honestly speaking, poverty is not just a problem, it’s a curse. This is because God says above all things, His wish for us is that we prosper. Not prospering therefore is out of the will of God for us (Psalms 84:11). God has made provision for every man to prosper in life. If only you would follow His instructions, you can become rich in life, the economic situation of your country notwithstanding.
Throughout human history, the Jews are viewed as a highly prosperous race with success and breakthroughs in every field of endeavor. According to a study done by Harvard University, there are only 1.2% of Jews in the USA and yet they own 78% of the wealth of both USA and Canada combined; the Jews are less than 1% of Germany’s population but yet they own 85% of the wealth of that nation. Among lessons learnt by over 90 people who attended the day of training were, the power of praying the Names of God, the recognition that everyone listens to God differently, and the importance of establishing intercessory prayer shields.

Becoming a Mighty Prayer Warrior: This course is designed to build a strong foundation in prayer. It includes training and mobilizing intercessors in the marketplace. to pray for leaders in the 7 mountains. Topics include: what is prayer, purpose of prayer, types of prayer, positions of prayer, hearing God’s voice, spiritual warfare and weapons of warfare.
Preparing Those In The Business Mountain To Help Transform Society: Transformation of society has always been on the heart of God. To transform cities, regions and nations, we need to capture and rule the 7 mountains that shape each area’s culture. These 7 mountains are business, government, family, religion, arts & entertainment, education, and media.
Leaders and CEOs in the 7 mountains are discovering the value of having personal and corporate intercessors. However, finding or equipping those intercessors can be a challenge. The problems most of them face are what kind of people they should look for and how to go about finding people who would not only commit to pray for them, but also could pray effectively. The market place is filled with much opportunities and traps. To the unwary businessperson and staff, the pain inflicted from betrayal by business associates, staff or ex-staff, lost business deals, office politics etc can often bring much pain, which paralyses the business owner and keeps him from moving forwards. Matthew will be sharing his personal experience in dealing with such pain and how one can find God’s purpose in the treacherous market place.
Matthew will also share his experience of persevering through the dry spells, and the need to be able to understand the times and seasons of business cycles and to know what to do, just like the sons of Issachar. He will explain what it takes to position yourself and your business to maximally leverage on the divine opportunities that suddenly comes when God intervenes through supernaturally orchestrated situations.

Personal Transformation That Leads To Marketplace Transformation
The biblical character I would like to use as a theme for my message is one of Jesus’ disciples: Peter. In this man we see leadership, anointing and personal strength but a character that had to be transformed from its undeveloped state for the man to reach his potential. Peter’s unbroken pride and self-reliance were stumbling blocks that almost destroyed his usefulness to God. Many young businesspeople are like Peter. After he had at last been humbled by his disgraceful denial of the Lord, Jesus Himself restored Peter, and called him again to follow his Master. In the process of restoration, Jesus’ call to Peter was simply to “feed my sheep” – that is, to humbly and effectively serve the needy ones closest to him. In answering that lowly call to service, Peter was transformed into a mighty apostle of faith – performing the miracles we see in the Book of Acts.
Today, God’s call to business is a call to serve. Those businesses that provide the most value to the most people in need will always prosper. Success in the marketplace is found by loving your neighbours in a practical and professional way. Christian businesspeople, like the disciple Peter, must have transformed character marked by integrity and love for others in order to prosper and build up the kingdom of God at the same time. Come and be transformed and empowered for your business!

Wherever this gospel has been received it has transformed people as well as culture and brought with it great economic power and political influence. Since the earliest days in the Book of Acts this gospel has been spreading westward from Israel and changing the world.
Today, the gospel of the kingdom is sweeping into Asia like a tidal wave. The current Global Financial Crisis that started in the USA signifies a shift in the spiritual and economic influence in the world. What will be the result of this historical and spiritual “tsunami” of change? How will it affect businesses in Asia? What is its impact on your business?

is an Asian-American, now an Israeli citizen. The son of an American diplomat, Peter was born in the U.S. and raised in Japan. Peter and his wife, Rita, a Messianic Jew, moved to Tokyo, Japan in 1982 where they led a growing international fellowship. Peter also worked in the Japanese computer industry. In 1987, they became immigrants and moved to Haifa, Israel. After the Gulf War in 1991, Peter was instrumental in establishing the congregation of Kehilat HaCarmel (Carmel Assembly) on Mount Carmel and became one of the pastors. He now directs the Or HaCarmel (light of the Carmel) Ministry Center and the Mount Carmel School of Ministry. Peter writes books and teaches in various countries. One of his passions is to see God working in the marketplace. Some of the books that Peter has written include: My Father’s Business and God’s Tsunami.
